What is beard transplantation?

• The reason for the loss of beard can due to accidents, traumas, burns, stress and some diseases or it can be inherently weak.  

. Beard transplantation is an effective method in eliminating beard loss or in those who prefer a thicker beard. 

. Beard transplantation is a process consisting of the implantation of the hair follicles taken from the fall-resistant area in the back of the head into the beard area.  

. The new shape to be given to the beard area can be planned in line with the patient's wishes provided that it remains within the anatomical boundaries.  

. Hair follicles taken from the donor/ nape region should be placed at a certain angle and a certain direction which depends on the region to be transplanted. The holes should be opened and the follicles should be placed, paying attention to direction and angle in different regions of the beard. For this reason, it is recommended that the operation should be performed by an experienced physician. When it's performed by experienced expert, natural and successful results are obtained.  

. The procedure takes 4-8 hours depending on the size of the area under local anesthesia. After the operation, the patient may return home on foot. Scabs that are the size of a pinhead may appear on the operated area. The patient will be able to return to work and social life as the scabs will be cleared after an average of 10 days.  

• Transplanted hairs are falling in first 3-4 weeks after the surgery due to decrease of oxygen transportation. This process is quite normal. After 3-4 months transplanted roots will start to produce new hairs and this process will last for approximately 12 months. Final result of the surgery will be visible 1 year after the operation and the hair takes its final shape.  These hairs will grow 1 cm every month.

• After the surgery do not drink alcohol and do not smoke for 7 days. 

• At the surgery day and 3 days after it apply cold compress on your forehead and temples areas.Repeat it every hour for 10 minuts. Do not apply ice on your recipient area. Edema may appear 3 days after the surgery and last for 2 days. Edema do not effect the result of the surgery negatively.

• First 2 nights after the surgery we advice you to use high/ two pillows while sleeping or to hold your head in higher position. You can sleep on your back. Your beard must not touch the pillow. 

• If you want to color your beard you must wait at least for 2 months after the transplantation surgery.        

• After 3 weeks of the oparetion you can cut your beard with scissors and razor. After 3 months you can use electrical clipper.  

• Do not engage in sexual intercourse, don't overbend for 7 days after the surgery. 

• First 2 weeks after the surgery avoid lifting heavy things, doing sports, going sauna and solarium, beeing under the sun and do not wear (moto)bike helmet.     

Washing

• Recipient area should be washed very gentile (which depends on the direction of the hair, from up to down), without massage for 9 days.

• First apply Pan(to)thenol sprey on both the recipient and donor areas. Wait for 15-20 minutes and rinse off it with warm water with light touches without pressure.

• Foam the shampoo in your hand and apply it on both areas (on recipient area without massage). Donor area can be washed by making light massage.  

•  In the 10th wash apply hard massage to finish all scabs. 

 •  Last control is made after 10th wash.
