What is eyebrow transplantation?

The eyebrows,in the shape of an arc, are important structures that contribute to the beauty and expression of our face, help us with our gestures and mimics and help us express our emotions and thoughts. If the eyebrow wholeness is spoiled, it may affect your facial expressions.    

. Eyebrows can be lost due to accidents, traumas, burns, stress and some diseases. In addition, frequently shaping your eyebrows can lead to permanent loss of eyebrows and some areas of the eyebrows do not grow back even if they are wanted to be thickened later on As often said, "the eyebrows break their ties with you".    

. Eyebrow transplantation is an effective method for relieving loss of eyebrows or for people who want thicker eyebrows. Eyebrow transplantation is a procedure consisting of the transplantation of the hair follicles taken from the fall-resistant area in the back of the head to the eyebrow area.    

. The new form to be given to eyebrows can be planned in line with the patient's wishes provided that it is within the anatomical limits. The eyebrows should start inward of the eyelids and continue to extend a few mm beyond the outer edges of the eyelids. The procedure is performed and planned to stay within these anatomical boundaries and the closest shape that the patient requested is tried to be accomplished.    

. These follicles taken from the nape region should be placed at a certain angle and a certain direction to the region to be transplanted. The angle and direction of the eyebrows are arranged in three different regions of the eye in separate directions and at separate angles. While the eyebrow is being transplanted, the canals are opened and the follicles should be placed, paying attention to the direction and the angle of the three different regions of the eyebrows. For this reason, it is recommended that the operation is performed by an experienced physician. When performed by experienced people, natural and successful results are obtained.    

. The procedure takes about 2-3 hours under local anesthesia. After the operation, the patient may return home on foot. Scabs that are the size of a pinhead may appear on the operated area. The patient will be able to return to work and social life as the scabs will be cleared after an average of 10 days.    

. The transplanted hair starts to grow after 3 months and reaches its full growth within 12 months and takes its final shape.    

. In the first year, the eyebrows grow as fast as hair because they will show the characteristics of the region they have been taken. The tips must be trimmed with scissors every 15 days. After 1 year (second year) they will start having the eyebrow characteristics, the growth rates will slow down and the need to cut and trim will be reduced.

• After the surgery don't drink alcohol and don't smoke for 7 days.

• At the surgery day and 3 days after it apply cold compress on your forehead, temples and eyelid areas.Repeat it every hour for 10 minuts. Do not apply ice on your recipient area. Edema may appear 3 days after the surgery and last for 2 days. Edema do not effect the result of the surgery negatively.   

• First 2 nights after the surgery we advice you to use 2 pillows while sleeping or to hold your head in higher position. You may sleep on the back or two sides. Your eyebrows must not touch the pillow.   

• Transplantated hairs are falling in first 3-4 weeks after the surgery due to decrease of oxygen transportation. This process is quite normal. After 3-4 months of the operation roots will start to produce new hairs. These hairs will grow 1 cm every month . During the first year after the surgery transplantated hairs will grow 1 cm each month. You can correct the shape of your eyebrows by cutting it with scissors.   

• 1 year after the surgery transplantated roots will get all the features of eyebrow area hairs  and growth speed will decrease.   

• 3-4 months after the surgery transplantated hairs will start to grow and this process will last for approximately 12 months. Final result of the surgery will be visible 1 year after the transplantation. 

• If you want to color your eyebrows you must wait at least for 2 months after the transplantation surgery.    

• Starting with 10th day after the surgery you may use eyebrow liner.   

• Do not engage in sexual intercourse, don't overbend for 7 days after the surgery.   

• First 2 weeks after the surgery avoid lifting heavy things, doing sports, going sauna and solarium, beeing under the sun and do not wear (moto) bike helmet.

Washing

• Recipient area should be washed very gentile for 9 days, without massage (which depends on the direction of the eyebrow). 

• First apply Pan(to)thenol sprey on both areas (recipient and donor areas). Wait for 15-20 minutes and rinse off it with warm water moving from middle of your eyebrows to the temples with light touches without pressure on the recipient area.  

• Foam the shampoo in your hand and apply it on both areas. Rinse off it with warm water moving from middle of your eyebrows to the temples with light touches without pressure on the recipient area. 

•  In the 10th wash apply hard massage to finish all scabs. 

. Last control is made after 10th wash.
